The Independent Evaluation Office of the IMF is looking for a Research Analyst to join our team. The candidate's primary initial assignment will be to undertake analytical and data work in support for one our ongoing evaluations. The initial appointment will be for one year but will be renewable depending on the needs of the office (to a maximum of four years). Responsibilities will include : - Assisting economists, evaluators, and consultants in collecting data and conducting quantitative analysis utilizing econometric and other statistical tools. - Preparing charts and tables, accessing and manipulating macroeconomic data from a wide range of sources, including IFS, OECD, WB, INS, BEL, Current Economic Indicators, WEO, WEFA, Haver, DataStream, Reuters, Bloomberg and internet, among others. - As needed, statistical and econometric analysis, including stochastic simulations. - Supporting staff economists, evaluators, and consultants, for instance in retrieving and accessing documents and arranging and keeping records of interviews. - Researching, collecting, and compiling information - Maintaining and updating quantitative and qualitative economic, financial, or statistical databases - Evaluating economic, financial, or statistical relationships in databases - Designing systems to facilitate interfaces or to transfer data between external and in-house databases Applicant must be able to work independently under minimum supervision and to be accountable for the accuracy of both data and programs. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, finance, computer science, or other related quantitative fields Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a similar capacity Strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills. Proficiency in software applications, e.g. MS Office (specifically Excel and Word) and in packages such as Stata, Eviews, and Matlab, together with knowledge of statistical and econometric techniques and macroeconomic relationships is required.
