Product Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Product Engineer to join our Powertrain Systems Engineering team, specifically within the Base Engine Development group. In this role, you will manage a variety of projects, ranging from small-scale investigations and changes to large, full-scale development programs. You will be responsible for driving common design changes across international markets and Traton partner brands, leading the engineering processes, and solving complex, high-risk issues. Additionally, you will influence technical and regulatory standards and foster strong relationships with suppliers to ensure successful project execution and delivery. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering challenges in a dynamic, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development projects for the Base Engine team (Small & large projects)
• Coordinate design efforts and cross functional reviews, create DRD’s (Design Requirements Documents)
• Ownership of development & validations plans, BOM’s for prototype engine builds & test engines
• Change management coordination within various Traton brands (Navistar, Scania, MAN & VW Truck & Bus)
• Support issue resolutions using rigorous problem-solving practices
• Participation in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)
• Completion of Component and System level Design
• Verification Plan and Reports (DVP&R)
• Work within multiple proprietary software systems to track issues across all partner brands and support future development of universal systems (Training provided).
• Development of internal and external engine components in conjunction with our Traton partners and suppliers.
• Identify, troubleshoot, contain, and permanently correct engineering issues.
• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
• Assist with Compliance validation to Federal, State and local requirements
• Work directly with Manufacturing, Materials, Quality,
• Purchasing and other Product Development Engineering groups worldwide across all Traton brands.
• Support Manufacturing and plant goals of safety, quality, cost and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience
• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
• Extensive background in engine and/or engine component & accessory development
• MBA or MSME is a plus
• Strong cross functional communication skills and relationship building
• Troubleshoot and solving significant, unique and complex problems with suppliers and outside engineering entities.
• HIGH sense of urgency
• Operating with no supervision in a complex environment
• Demonstrated leadership of project teams to achieve milestones and objectives
