Project Engineer

Position Overview

International Structural and Multi body Dynamics (MBD) team within International Product Validation is accountable for all structural strength, durability, Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) and vehicle dynamic simulations across all our commercial vehicles.

The Project Engineer will provide technical expertise in the Powertrain Simulation area supporting strength and durability of powertrain and powertrain attached components, using Nastran, ANSYS/another equivalent Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation tool.

Responsibilities

• Perform Structural Analysis of components or systems to support design development and validation activities.
• Utilize Structural Analysis to assess and optimize the performance of powertrain components and systems for commercial trucks and buses including full vehicle assemblies.
• Use skills in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to apply engineering theory to design development.
• Use physical test and field service data to enhance analysis results, and participate in team level product decision-making processes.
• Work is accomplished through independent contribution. Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Create formal networks involving coordination among groups.
• Communicate with a cross function engineering team (design, physical test, program management) and follow company best practices to get the job done right the first time.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science 

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Experience and understanding of the principles of statics, structural dynamics, strength of materials and fatigue.
• Familiarity with FEA methods and experience using FEA software (NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS, ALTAIR HW).
• Understanding the durability testing methods.
• Familiarity with commercial vehicles (trucks and buses)
• Understanding the fundamentals of Internal Combustion Engines
• Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
• Experience with working on timing plans and budget planning
• Experience with formal presentationsMS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project
