Senior Project Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer within Body team, who will lead in the development of Vehicle concepts, Requirements Definition, Modularity and integration packaging, Issue Resolution, and focus group mediator will be expected to work independently for extended periods. Design solutions must serve the functional needs of the application but reflect an awareness of cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, and service ability. Frequent interaction with Vehicle Platform, Program Management, and other engineering functions can be expected. The ideal candidate shall bring expertise to the team and a broad perspective, mentoring and guiding less senior employees, and developing best practices for the team. Based in metro Chicago, International Corporation is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses. Responsibilities

Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members. Runs focus groups to resolve problems that cannot be solved at the team level. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.• Responsibilities include concept, design and integration of customer needed solutions.• Lead problem solving activities that cannot be handled at the team level.• Lead scoping of future solutions including initial layouts and integration strategies.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
• At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
• At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
• At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
• At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status

Desired Skills

• Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development; from initial styling concepts through design, validation, and launch• Design and layout experience using Unigraphics UG-NX2 or any CAD related modeling software• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects• Familiarity with design quality tools including:o Failure Modes Effects Analysis & DVPo Agileo Design for Manufacturingo Design for Assemblyo Basic Dimensional Management (GD&T, etc.)o Jirao Statistical Tolerance Stack-upo Problem solving skills such as 8D, 3 legged 5 Why’s and statistical problem solving is a plus
