The Job You Will Perform:
This position is responsible for assisting in managing the work of the data governance team within Global Finance Information Management (GFIM) to help develop a governance process for finance master data and standardized accounting processes. The focus will be on global support within IP’s core financial system. This position is in Memphis, TN. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Improving our process efficiency and effectiveness, analytical capabilities, and access to information
- Better management of our data is supported by processes, people and technology
- Improvements across the following areas: Consolidations, Tax, MR&A, and Planning & Budgeting
- This position will focus on data cleansing and process improvement opportunities as identified to ensure master data, as well as recorded transactions, within IP’s core financial system are maintained accurately, efficiently and effectively
- The data involved may be resident in SAP ECC, Business Warehouse (BW) and/or SAP Business Planning and Consolidations (BPC)
- The focus will be on data stewardship and effective data maintenance processes. This will be achieved by using best practice data governance and maintenance processes
- Provide strategic direction to manage finance data as a critical corporate resource
- Develop policies that focus on best practices and provide the framework for decision-making when there are conflicting views among various business groups and supply chain functions
- Assist with implementing GFIM’s Data Management processes
- Monitor / measure (KPIs) to ensure actual data quality, services, and processes meet objectives
- Identify and implement data improvement initiatives
- Active participation and/or point of contact in process integration, system upgrades, merger, and acquisition activities, as well as ensuring proper treatment of disposals/liquidations
- Responsible for the quality of finance master data as assigned
- Ownership, adherence, and communication of data standards & change control process
- Responsible for data maintenance processes used throughout the core finance systems
- Participates in setting policy governing data access and security
- Active participation in finance data related activity in system upgrade, process integration, merger, and acquisition activities
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance related position with exposure to data maintenance activities and business warehouse functionality
- Foundational accounting knowledge
- Ability to work in a team environment, including interaction with other members of Finance & IT teams
- Cost accounting and manufacturing background preferred
- Strong SAP functional skills, BW working knowledge
- Knowledge of data management processes with an emphasis on data stewardship / governance for an Enterprise system is desirable
- Must understand SAP data structures and use in business processes
- Possess excellent teamwork skills
- Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
