Job Summary : Sacramento's Survivors of Torture Program provides targeted services and assistance to refugee and immigrant survivors of physical and psychological torture and their family members. The Client Advocate will provide trauma-informed case management and care coordination to address the barriers and ongoing needs of survivors. This is an exciting opportunity to have an impact by extending wellness services and enabling survivors to rebuild their lives post victimization. This position will also coordinate the implementation of educational programming, aimed at promoting safety and security among newly arrived immigrants.
Major Responsibilities :
- Provide case management and trauma-informed services to survivors of Torture including individualized service plans, care coordination, and referrals to supportive services.
- Serve as a point person for staff and clients in navigating the social and community services for survivor of torture.
- Support clients in navigating moments of crisis, including safety planning and coordination with emergency services.
- Coordinate educational activities for the Survivors of Torture team including, but not limited to cultural orientation, safety and crime prevention workshops, "Healthy Relationships", "United States Family Law", "Affordable Housing" workshops, and community engagement events.
- Implement outreach activities to promote awareness of victims' rights, resources, and the Survivors of Torture program within the greater Sacramento immigrant community.
Provide comprehensive language access to clients through bi-lingual and culturally congruent services.
Assist in overall client wellness activities within the Sacramento office.

Other Internal and / or external contacts :
Internal : The Client Advocate will work as a member of the Survivors of Torture team. This position will also develop working relationships with other Survivor Services programs such as anti-trafficking and survivors of combat, Resettlement, ICM, Immigration, Early Employment and Workforce Development staff and collaborate with internal programming to support achievement of program goals.
External : The Client Advocate will develop working relationships and support referrals systems with community service providers. This includes but is not limited to physical and mental health providers, law enforcement, legal and other victim service providers.
