The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking an experienced and passionate music educator to serve as our Performing Arts Coordinator. The coordinator oversees the performing arts program at IST and is responsible for developing a vision and direction of the program that delivers excellence in the discipline. Responsibilities are divided into music instruction, program development, and performance coordination. The coordinator is expected to bring experience in both classroom instruction and program development to support IST's overall growth and pursuit of excellence as the school develops in its new campus.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in music education, along with the ability to lead and coordinate school productions that reflect high artistic standards. This individual will play a key role in shaping a dynamic and engaging performing arts experience for students, while fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Music Instruction & Student Engagement
• Teach a selection of music classes across Grades 1-10, incorporating singing, instrumental instruction, movement, and music appreciation.
• Lead and direct student ensembles and musical groups
• Foster musicianship, creativity, and confidence in students through engaging and diverse musical experiences.
• Integrate inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches into the music curriculum.
Performing Arts Program Development
• Develop and refine a vision for the performing arts at IST, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and IB principles, including concrete skill development trajectories for students over time.
• Collaborate with faculty and school leadership to integrate performing arts across disciplines.
• Where possible, establish partnerships with local arts organizations to enhance student learning experiences.
Theater & Performance Coordination
• Organize and direct school-wide theatrical productions, with a focus on student participation, creativity, and performance quality.
• Oversee logistics, scheduling, and artistic direction for student performances, ensuring high production values.
• Provide students with instruction in acting, stage presence, and production fundamentals.
• Manage casting, rehearsal schedules, and production planning with support from faculty and volunteers.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Music, Performing Arts, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience teaching music. • Minimum of 5 years' experience in directing performances.
• Experience teaching across all performing arts disciplines.
• Experience directing school or community productions is preferred.
• Proven ability to lead students to levels of excellence in performance.
• Strong knowledge of pedagogical best practices, including SEL and mindfulness strategies in arts education.
• Experience with inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches.
• International Baccalaureate (IB) experience preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
