Job Description
** This position in contingent upon the award of the contract.**
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below:
International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide skilled nursing care to patients in Specialty and Primary Care Clinics in Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, and surrounding Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. They may perform those approved Medical Center procedures that are described in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act, Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards. The LPN demonstrates increasingly more independence in their management of patient care and competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide duties as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas, in ambulatory/outpatient care clinics, and in outpatient lab.
- Prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
- Observe and document the patient's response to medication administered and the report any noted change in the patient's condition to RN or MD/DO.
- Serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact [in an appropriate manner] with patients, family members, professionals and [other] supportive personnel [involved in the delivery of] patient care, incorporating acceptable, established customer service standards into practice.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories.
- Assist with patient hygiene and activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Prepare and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about health management and disease prevention.
- Perform wound care and assist with minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Respond to patient calls and concerns in a timely manner.
- Assist in emergency situations and provide first aid as needed.
- Participate in training and continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
