Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled National Medical Director to join our team. As the medical authority for our medical services contract, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the medical practice delivery model in accordance with the policies and protocols listed in the Statement of Work (SOW) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directives.
You will work closely with the National Program Director, Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to persons in custody. Your responsibilities will include clinical supervisory authority over sector physicians, advanced practice providers, and all clinical staff, as well as oversight of laboratory services and CLIA waived testing.
You will also be responsible for providing medical direction and necessary guidance/oversight as required by state licensure, participating in the recruitment and selection process for advanced practice providers and supervising physicians, and developing and coordinating all aspects of healthcare delivery in collaboration with the National Program Director and OCMO.
In addition, you will provide on-call coverage for assigned medical units/sector 24 hours a day/7 day a week, participate in disease surveillance activities and public health and epidemiology studies/efforts, and provide age-appropriate screening, treatment, and patient instruction pertinent to the discipline and facility setting for acute and chronic conditions for all ages.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada
- Current, active, valid, and unencumbered license, registration, or certification as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for healthcare providers
- American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders
- Board-certification/board-eligibility in a medical specialty, preferably in a primary care field such as Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine
- Successful completion of a medical residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in detention/correctional healthcare, humanitarian care, ambulatory care, or pediatric settings
- Expert knowledge of current standards of practice in clinical medicine
- Mastery of managerial and administrative practices, including expertise in routine management of ambulatory clinic functioning and responsibilities
