Job Description
This project is in the proposal stage, we’re awaiting to be awarded the contract.
This position is in support of the County of Sarasota Florida to provide care for those with special needs who are displaced in the event of a largescale disaster. This position requires the individual to be able to respond to a disaster with in 24 hours of notice and to establish care with in 72 hours of notification. This is a post disaster mission and will require the individual to be onsite until conclusion of the operation.
The Respiratory Therapist is required to provide quality respiratory care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for maintaining all skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe, effective and developmentally appropriate respiratory care to all patients.
- Plans for patient’s respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes Safely performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines and policies to provide safe patient care.
- Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to support patient care.
- Documents interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation.
- Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination.

Qualifications
Experience Required:

Education Required:
- Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
- Minimum one year of professional experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital, medical office or residential setting.
Required Licenses / Certifications:
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC) or current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or an equivalent credential acceptable to the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support.
- Current and valid driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of “Special Needs” populations (Preferred).
- Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications.
- Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.
Duty Hours / ON-Call Requirements:
- This an upon notification position.
- Shifts will be 12 hours a day until complete.
- Will have on call responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
- Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above.
- Ability to work in an austere environment exposure to heat and weather.
- Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc.
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to drive a vehicle on behalf of the company.
Travel / Rotation Requirements:
Travel to Sarasota upon notification.
Additional Information
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
Compensation| Min: $22hr Max: $40hr
