POSITION SUMMARY:
General Maintenance Worker reports to the Project Manager and performs general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Repair or replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, in-ground lines, and motors.
- Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Repair or replace sinks, plumbing fixtures, supply lines, water heaters, and in-ground water lines.
- Repair or replace handrails, decking boards, doors, and boat dock components.
- Repair or replace asphalt or metal roofing on property structures.
- Assist in aids to navigation on the lake.
- Remove dead, damaged or otherwise hazardous trees.
- Trim tree limbs on roadsides and in campsites up to 45’ using a scissor lift.
- Perform building, playground and boat dock inspections.
- Perform leaf removal using backpack blower or PTO equipment.
- Complete routine preventative maintenance on government furnished equipment.
- Install pedestal grills, fire rings, picnic tables, and lantern holders in campsites and in day use areas.
- Pressure wash concrete surfaces, buildings, and playgrounds.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, roadways and parking lots using shovel, snowblower or other related equipment. Spread salt on walkways and other areas.
- Paint structures, fences, gates, and boundary lines.
- Repair roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment.
- Complete non-routine general maintenance work according to schedule provided by the Manager.
- Be available weekends for on-call shifts during peak season to handle emergency general maintenance issues and upkeep requests.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Use of variety of hand tools, specialized wood working tools, chainsaws, brush blades, tractors, backhoe, scissor lift, and Polaris.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
May require lifting up to 100 lbs., prolonged exposure to outdoor elements, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee’s use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, Army Safety Program and published ISG work rules.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, or climb for extended periods throughout the day
