A leading construction management firm in New York is looking for an experienced Chief Estimator to lead the estimating department, producing and reviewing conceptual and detailed estimates for ground-up and renovation projects across commercial, residential, and institutional sectors. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong preconstruction expertise, cost analysis skills, and the ability to develop accurate budgets from minimal design information.
Key Responsibilities:
Conceptual & Detailed Estimating – Develop and review conceptual, schematic, and final estimates based on limited design details, historical data, and market trends.
Preconstruction Leadership – Work closely with project teams to provide early cost guidance, feasibility analysis, and value engineering solutions.
Bid Strategy & Procurement – Oversee the bid process, analyze subcontractor pricing, and develop competitive proposals.
Cost Analysis & Budgeting – Evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.
Market & Industry Insight – Stay up to date on construction costs, industry trends, and vendor relationships to maintain cost competitiveness.
Risk Management – Identify potential cost risks and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate financial exposure.
Team Leadership – Mentor and develop a team of estimators, ensuring consistency and accuracy in all estimating processes.
What You Need:
✅ 10 years’ experience in estimating for ground-up and renovation construction projects.
✅ Expertise in conceptual estimating with the ability to develop accurate budgets from minimal design information.
✅ Strong knowledge of New York construction markets, labor rates, and cost structures.
✅ Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, WinEst, ProEst, or similar).
✅ Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
