Mechanical Project Executive - Leading National Speciality Contractor
Position Summary
If you thrive on managing large-scale construction projects, enjoy mentoring others, and prioritize safety, this Project Executive role could be a great fit. You’ll lead multi-million-dollar commercial MEP projects while developing and guiding future project managers and industry leaders.
This opportunity is available for a traveling Project Executive, with the flexibility to be on-site during the week and travel home on weekends. Alternatively, a relocation package is available for the right candidate—offering a unique chance to take on an exciting project while experiencing life in a new city.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a major project or multiple projects, acting as the senior representative and primary point of contact.
- Lead and mentor the project team, delegating responsibilities effectively and fostering professional growth.
- Utilize lean construction methodologies, including A3 development, choosing by advantages, and 5-why analysis.
- Implement and facilitate Last Planner System sessions to improve project efficiency.
- Quickly learn and teach new lean construction concepts.
- Coordinate design, trades, and subcontractor interactions to ensure smooth project execution.
- Apply company policies and procedures while taking responsibility for project decisions and challenges.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in project performance and team collaboration.
- Foster strong client relationships and contribute to repeat business development.
- Support the sales team in project pursuits, including presentations, estimate input, and client meetings.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with clients regarding project progress.
- Manage critical project functions, including equipment selection, subcontractor procurement, budget analysis, cost projections, and manpower planning.
- Effectively negotiate and manage contract change orders and any cost-related impacts.
- Own and execute Connected Solutions strategies for project success.
- Lead the team in preparing and presenting monthly project reviews to leadership.
- Participate in industry organizations such as DBIA, LCI, CPMCA, ASHRAE, or ASPE.
- Guide the team in understanding and adhering to contract scope and terms.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and develop project teams.
- Experience in proactively planning projects and driving success through leadership and execution.
- Ability to lead preconstruction activities, including value engineering analyses.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering systems (HVAC, plumbing) as they relate to large-scale construction.
- Experience estimating large projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present proposals and lead sales presentations.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and create a sense of urgency for project completion.
Education & Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management with at least 10 years of experience
OR Experience in Construction management.*
- Experience managing large Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including CAD drawings, blueprints, and submittals.*Why Join Us? People First: Building Talent by Design*
