Job Title: Summer Courts and Grounds Crew 2025

Reports To: Superintendent of Courts and Grounds

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Grounds Crew Members to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the grounds and courts to ensure a safe, attractive, and playable environment for all visitors. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively outdoors in various conditions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lawn Care:
• Mow, water, weed, and trim lawns and court areas to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
• Court Setup & Maintenance:
• Paint and set up courts for daily play.
• Ensure courts are safe, clean, and properly maintained for playability and player safety.
• Planting & Pruning:
• Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed.
• Mulch and water plants to promote healthy growth.
• Prune shrubs and hedges to maintain a tidy landscape.
• Trash Removal:
• Pick up and dispose of trash from the grounds.
• Empty and maintain trash and recycling containers.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
• Safely operate power tools and lawn equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Lifting & Work Environment:
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.

Requirements & Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in grounds-keeping, landscaping, or related field preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting and working outdoors.

Location and Time Commitment

· Position is based at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island

· The position is from the end of May through end of August or at least until August 25th. Start and end dates are flexible.

· Must be prepared to work from Saturday, July 4 – Sunday July 13 every day and sometimes into the evenings during tournament. Prior to July 4, hours may be flexible ranging from 30 – 40 per week.

· Each summer the ITHF hosts a tennis tournament and an Induction Celebration.

Hall of Fame Open
Scheduled for July 6-13, 2025, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame Open will become just the second combined ATP and WTA 125 level event in the United States. It will be the only grass court stop on the Hologic WTA Tour outside of Europe, and the first women’s professional tournament at the ITHF since the Virginia Slims of Newport concluded in 1990. Equal prize money will be awarded to both the men’s and women’s draws.

Induction Celebration

The Class of 2025 will be officially inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame during the Induction Celebration in Newport, Rhode Island, from August 21-23, 2025. The 2025 Induction Celebration will usher in a new era for the Hall of Fame that highlights the best of tennis culture through art, fashion, music and more.

During the weekend, the Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic charitable tournament will feature two teams consisting of Hall of Famers, celebrities and creators, all mic’d up as they take the court together through six matches of fast-paced mixed doubles play.

Attendees can enjoy Fanfest activities, meet and greets, and live podcast recordings, along with premium New England faire from food trucks across the region. The ITHF will also return its Courting Fashion event to celebrate iconic tennis fashion on display at the historic mansion Marble House and will close out the weekend with its formal induction ceremony of the 2025 Class, followed by a live musical concert.
