International Translation Services is the oldest and largest Language Services company in Central Iowa.

We are currently looking for interpreters for Burmese Languages.
Greatest needs are for:

• Somali
• Karenni

Other Burmese languages may be considered as well.

Position is only for in-person interpreting. Virtual applicants will not be considered.

Professional experience as an interpreter not required, though preferred. Those without significant experience or education may be required to take a pre-contract fluency exam. Fluency in native language should be post high school fluency. Fluency in English should be at least high school graduate level. Candidates may be required to provide proof fluency in the target language or complete a post offer, pre-employment fluency test.

Most appointments are medical interpretation for local medical clinics. Interpreter will engage in consecutive conduit interpretation. Punctuality and Professionalism are critical. Interpreters will receive job offers via email. Monitoring electronic communication is necessary to receive work.

Position is as a contractor and work is provided on a per appointment basis. No guarantee for hours is offered. Work offered is determined by client request. Payments for appointments are bi-monthly.

We are located in Des Moines, Iowa and most work is offered in Central Iowa. We are looking to expand in the Marshalltown and Pella areas as well as in the Cedar Falls to Iowa City crescent.

Pay is negotiable. We will offer a signing bonus to interpreters after the first month of service.
