Position Overview
International is seeking a Senior Project Engineer with extensive experience in system engineering and embedded software development for electric and conventional powertrain vehicles.
The Senior Project Engineer will be part of a team responsible for developing advanced controls software, defining and managing software development requirements, and conducting testing on both Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems, software development, and testing methodologies, with a focus on vehicle systems— such as cab, chassis, and cluster controls.
The role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure the seamless integration of system requirements, troubleshooting vehicle-level issues, and performing detailed data analysis. The individual must be familiar with the vehicle system lifecycle, from requirement development to post-production technical support using industry-standard tools.
Responsibilities
- Define and document software development requirements based on system specifications and functional requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, validation, system engineering) to ensure the successful integration of control software with hardware.
- Oversee testing of control software on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms to validate performance and robustness.
- Oversee vehicle-level testing to ensure system functionality and performance under real-world conditions.
- Support troubleshooting and resolve software and system issues during development and testing phases.
- Ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards and safety regulations during software development.
- Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical discussions to ensure software quality and system optimization.
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and improve control algorithms to enhance system performance and efficiency.
- Support the development of documentation, including test plans, reports, and technical manuals.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 8 years of experience in product design / development and / or computer science experience
At least 1 year leading others in engineer / design activities
Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 6 years of experience in product design / development and / or computer science experience
At least 1 year leading others in engineer / design activities
PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 3 years of experience in product design / development and / or computer science experience
At least 1 year leading others in engineer / design activities
Additional Requirements
Desired Skills
Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Strong communication and organizational skills
Critical thinking and problem solving
Previous internships or work experience is a plus
Ability to work independently
