We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to join our team. The Compliance Specialist will work closely with the Lead Compliance Specialist to establish and maintain processes to ensure that Westcliff University adheres to relevant laws and regulations in the education sector as it pertains to federal student financial aid, state authorization, and compliance internal controls. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to implement and monitor compliance measures, and a willingness to research, learn, and grow within the role.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Aid Regulatory Compliance
    • ? Assist with recurring process and file reviews to ensure compliance with Federal Student Financial Aid (FSA) regulations
    • ? Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations affecting the education industry and the administration of Title IV student financial aid
    • ? With guidance from the Lead Compliance Specialist, assist with periodic evaluations of Westcliff’s compliance with federal and Title IV laws and regulations using resource materials such as the FSA Checklists
  • Internal Controls, Monitoring
    • ? Review newly implemented systems for monitoring and auditing internal processes and identify areas of risk or inefficiency.
    • ? Work with the Lead Compliance Specialist, to prepare and submit regular reports on compliance status to Senior Management, including segregations testing and remediation, and adherence versus policy.
    • ? Communicate any compliance and operational issues that may arise, work collaboratively with the Lead Compliance Specialist and other departments to find solutions.
  • State Authorizations
    • - Communicate with state higher education boards, and coordinate with Lead Compliance Specialist and relevant stakeholders to apply for, secure, and maintain authorization to operate in various states and remain compliant with state-level regulatory requirements.
    • - Organize documents, keep track of deadlines, and review requirements for authorization by state to ensure previously secured authorizations are maintained without lapse in approval.
    • - Communicate upcoming deadlines, changes to approval or requirements for approval, and concerns related to applying for or maintaining authorizations with the Lead Compliance Specialist and other internal stakeholders.
    • - Act as subject matter expert on state approvals and regulatory requirements related to state authorization.

    Qualifications

    • Other Compliance Activities and Operations
    • ? Assist with review of Annual Security Report and other Consumer Information Disclosures.
    • ? Attend training, webinars, and workshops to learn about compliance frameworks, required procedures, and changes in state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
    • ? Adhere to record-keeping, organization, and general maintenance of electronic documents, and internal controls
    • ? Foster a culture of compliance awareness and accountability throughout the organization
    • ? Provide ongoing support to the development of compliance functions
    • ? Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of work experience and education suitable to complete assigned duties.
    • ? Experience in a compliance or related field, preferably within the education sector.
    • ? Ability and willingness to research, especially in relation to policy and regulatory requirements.
    • ? Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
    • ? Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • ? Willingness to learn and grow as a professional.
    • ? High level of integrity and ethical behavior.
