Job Summary:  The Benefits/Payroll Specialist will process regularly scheduled payroll and maintain employee time records.  As well as being responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability

Duties/Responsibilities:                                                                                                        

• Use machinery to cut and shape metal into the desired shapes and sizes.
• Use welding, bolting or riveting to assemble the metal parts into structures
• Use measuring tools to check the accuracy of their work
• Keep tools and equipment in good working order
• Maintain a safe workplace and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses and gloves.
• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
• Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes and shears
• Ensure proper placement, balance, alignment, bolting and welding of structu5ral pieces by using levels, laser tools, plumb bobs, chain falls, comalongs, etc.
• Work at considerable heights safely and efficiently

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.

• Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Required Education/Experience:

• Must have a valid TWIC card and driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
• Basic math and reading skills
• Computer skills
• Experience fitting and welding steel
• Previous work experience as a metal fabricator
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures
• Knowledge of state and federal tax laws.
• Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision with drive toward accomplishment, and to produce high quality work.

Preferred Education/Experience:

• AWS Certification or advanced welding experience

Physical Requirements:

• Must remain drug free
• Exposure to dust/dirt/fumes
• Ability to wear applicable PPE as needed
• Ability to distinguish colors and shading
• Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking for 8 – 12 hour shifts
• Bending and twisting; repetitive movements
• Lift, push and pull 20 lbs independently
• Handle, control, feed, or feel objects, tools or product
• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
