What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at Interpersonal Psychiatry?
Provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management and consultation services to patients of the practice. Intakes typically are 45-60 minutes and follow-up appointments 15-20 minutes. For some clients if additional time is needed, can use an add on code for therapy to extend the time if documented appropriately if over 16 minutes. The provider makes the follow up appointment at the end of a session and can make it as appropriate to patient needs.
Available to respond to emergencies and answer medical questions of patients in a timely manner (within 24 hours).
Obtains and documents appropriate chief complaints, and all necessary required medical information necessary for assessment and treatment for each patient. Provides appropriate HPI for each billable session.
Provides medical orders for prescription refills, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals in a timely manner (within 24-48 hours).
Reviews ancillary test results and coordinates notification to the patient.
Provides patient education as needed.
Completes appropriate paperwork in compliance with insurance, reimbursement, and office guidelines.
Completion of all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner. All documentation to be done within 48 hours of seeing the patient. Depending upon workflow, may have up to 7 days to complete paperwork in extenuating circumstances. If it is over 7 days, this is a non-compliance issue and will be addressed with supervisor.
Coordinates, as needed, with psychotherapists in the provision of clinical services.
Maintains and conducts themselves professional in the clinic setting and coordinates effectively with staff through email, Microsoft teams, doxy and proper channels set up with the practice.
Qualifications
Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
Ability to professionally coordinate with staff.
To maintain boundaries with patients and understand the ethical needs and responsibilities of working in a psychiatric practice.
Additional requirements:
Must maintain license in good standing as an APRN and with DEA Certification.
To continue to learn, take training and stay up to date with medication, treatment options and emerging data in the psychiatric field.
Each provider has their own work plan with the company which may include in person, telehealth, or both and office hours may vary.
