What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit and Collections Associate position at Interstate Chemical Company?
We are looking for an in-person Credit & Collections Associate to join our team! This person will be responsible for an assigned portfolio of commercial customer accounts. They will collect on past due invoices and assess credit limits for new accounts. They will report directly to the Credit Manager.
Duties:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collect on past due invoices using strong problems solving skills.
- Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies to repay the debt.
- Assist customers with unresolved statement issues.
- Verify payment transaction through financial institution portals.
- Enlist the assistance of Sales and Customer service when necessary to accelerate payment.
- Work with the Invoicing Department to assure accuracy of customer billing processes.
- Process and apply payments daily.
- Process daily check deposits and credit card transactions.
- Work closely with Customer Service in releasing orders being held because of past due issues.
- Maintain files.
Necessary Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Prior commercial account collection experience.
- Working knowledge of collection law and procedures.
- Financial analysis experience or an education background that is equivalent.
- Ability to communicate (orally and written) with customers, peers, and management.
- Efficiency with collection software programs.
- Willingness to cross train in other departments.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to report to the office daily, in person.
- Must be able to work eight (8) hour days, Monday - Friday.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements such as background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
