What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor position at Interstate Packaging?
Responsibilities
- Assist machine operators to keep orders running.
- Assist in reporting of time, production and material usage.
- Other general duties may include stacking or feeding machines, bundling, and banding.
- Assist with quality checks.
- Report irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the machine operator, Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
- Ability to use a ruler and verify dimensions on material.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Keeps plant and work area clean and orderly.
- Written and oral communication skills is required.
- Other job tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three (3) months of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Good human relations skills and strong verbal communication skills are required.
Physical Demands
Employees are frequently required to stand and repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel and/or reach product. Employees are occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
