Position Purpose: Reporting to the department Supervisor, the Logistics Coordinator will prepare, route, and manage the company's inbound/outbound shipments. Main duties include reviewing shipment materials before distribution, collaborating with transportation systems to ensure prompt shipment pick-ups and monitoring shipment costs and productivity processes.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Schedule and coordinate trucks to deliver product by maximizing the load capacity of our in-house trucks.
2. Determines shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet customer delivery dates.
3. Determines space requirements and position of shipments in bobtails and 53' trucks and lays out position of the shipment.
4. Worked customer service to pull in orders and get fills to ensure we have full trucks on first and second runs.
5. Escalate of missing items to production team and customer service.
6. Communicate with company drivers on routes/dock appts/ETAs.
7. Meet with customer service to review all missed shipments and provide reason - ensures all orders are rescheduled by end and day.
8. Prepares shipping and receiving documents including packing lists, bills of lading, and all other required paperwork.
9. Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents.
10. Improves overall supply chain performance by managing inventory levels.
11. Reviews daily shipping and receiving reports to ensure proper and timely order shipment.
12. Aids in resolving shipment errors and issues.
13. Participates in continuous improvement projects.
14. Participates in department meetings.
15. Performs all work in a safety-first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
16. Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years' experience as a logistics coordinator within a manufacturing company with in-house fleet required.
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills required.
- AS400 and/or Apriso experience preferred.
