Salary : Summary
The billing department is responsible for performing all necessary functions of insurance billing, Patient
collections, electronic billing and paper statement billing, including sending out statements once a month and
following and cleaning up any denials.
Essential Functions
Uses internal processes to assess, plan and provide follow-up with all accounts receivable collections, including
but not limited to all insurance and patient billing.
Enter all office and hospital charges into computer
Run, verify, and close batches
Print paper claims, as necessary
Work denial queue daily
Post payments and necessary adjustments
Review denial claims for re-bill / re-process
Call insurance companies for claims status on past due accounts
Hospital reports
Follow-up with returned statements
Work with billing team to process pre-authorizations
Call patient before accounts go to collection to make final financial arrangements
Manage heavy calls from the patient regarding billing questions and insurance changes
Must read, write, and speak English proficiently
Must write legibly
Work Environment
This position works under normal office conditions.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying objects up to 30 pounds
Raising or lowering objects from one level to another including upward pushing
Occasional stooping, bending, crouching at the knees, and waist (downward and forward)
Frequent reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction
Handling, holding, fingering, grasping, and turning objects regularly.
Position type / Expected hours of work.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. This position occasionally requires overtime.
Required Education and Experience
Knowledge of office equipment, including calculators, copiers, Facsimile machines, telephones, files / file
cabinets, etc. Knowledge and utilization of a personal computer and computer peripheral equipment. Strong
interpersonal skills. Minimum 2 years experience.
