Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the front desk operations of our medical office, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients while efficiently handling administrative tasks. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of medical office procedures, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Obtaining accurate information from patients, including their demographics, insurance informormation and run eligibility checks.
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service.
- Manage phone systems to answer calls, schedule appointments, and handle inquiries.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Assist with medical coding and billing processes, ensuring proper documentation for insurance claims.
- Review patient documentation for completeness and accuracy before appointments.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle medical collections and manage patient accounts effectively.
- Utilize eclinicalworks or similar health information management systems for patient data entry and retrieval.
- Support overall medical office management by performing clerical duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is required.
- Familiarity with medical coding, medical records management, and health information management is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using phone systems and electronic health record (EHR) software such as ECW.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients, families, and staff members.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration is a plus.
- Three references are required.
