Behavioral Health Nurse

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Contract duration: 13 weeks possible extension
Guarantee hours: 40 hour a week

Minimum requirement:

Experience in Acute care and recent PSYCH experience.
Full Time, 40 hours per week, must be willing to work weekends as needed.
No Block scheduling accommodated.
Should have BLS by AHA
Must be covid vaccinated
Immunization and flu shots (if the position offered)

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine mental health needs and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness.
• Provide acute care for patients in crisis, utilizing effective de-escalation techniques.
• Assist with tube feeding and other medical-surgical procedures as necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems.
• Perform triage duties to prioritize patient needs effectively.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive long-term care for patients.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication management, and coping strategies.
• Uphold basic life support protocols and respond promptly to emergencies.

Experience

• Proven experience in patient care within a psychiatric or mental health setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with medication administration and monitoring in an acute care environment is essential.
• Experience with long-term care practices is a plus.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth is advantageous.
• Strong assessment skills and the ability to perform triage effectively are required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.

Job Types: Full-time, Travel nursing, Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $57.00 per hour
