Job Summary:
A Systems Administrator (Windows) will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting all data center systems under the direction of the Director of Systems. This includes permissions, modifications, configuration, backups, restores, provisioning of resources, and other related activities.
The ideal candidate will participate in system builds, installations, and maintenance, and monitor the daily health of operating systems. They must respond to backup-related issues and have flexibility to work required hours to address critical department needs, on-call 24/7 with defined response time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Builds, manages, configures, and monitors Windows core and infrastructure, including security tools for anti-spam and antivirus.
- Supports Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Windows 10/11 in an Active Directory environment.
- Manages Microsoft Active Directory services, including user account maintenance, server backup, restore, patching, and quota maintenance.
- Supports and manages file and printer services provided to users.
- Ensures changes are made according to FDU's change control, security, and risk assessment policies.
- Mitigates risk and vulnerability via automated patch management.
- Stays current with continuing developments in Computer Security.
- Analyzes information to recommend process improvements, solve problems, and choose effective solutions.
- FOLLOWs the Change Management process for production system changes, documenting all changes made.
- Provides end-user support, resolving assigned tickets.
- Maintains broad technical knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and training.
- Ability to perform skilled work in installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of Windows systems.
- Strong knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and monitoring system hardware in data centers with minimal guidance.
- Knowledge of managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, and ADFS.
- Experience managing PowerShell and scripting languages.
- Experience with ADFS and directory sync into Azure AD.
- Knowledge of VMware infrastructure with multisite replication and SRM.
- Knowledge of administrating database systems (SQL, MySQL).
- General knowledge of Cloud technologies, Networking, TCP/IP, and networking protocols (NFS, CIFS, SMB2).
- Effective organizational skills, ability to work independently, and prioritize tasks.
- Strong coordination and planning skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of university personnel and students.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Independent learner, self-directed, takes initiative while working within a team context.
- Valid driver's license and access to transportation for travel between campuses.
