A Medical Assistant in a clinic specializing in work-related injuries under workers' compensation and the Department of Labor plays a pivotal role in both clinical and administrative capacities. This position demands excellent multitasking abilities and a strong team-oriented mindset to ensure efficient and comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Support:
  • Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs, updating medical histories, and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Assist healthcare providers during medical procedures, anticipating needs and ensuring all instruments and supplies are readily available.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed, adhering to state regulations and clinic policies.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic lab tests, and ensure accurate documentation of results.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of clinic resources and timely patient flow.
  • Manage patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Handle phone inquiries, provide information to patients, and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Assist in managing workers' compensation case management programs, ensuring all necessary documentation and follow-ups are completed accurately. Paycom
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate patient care and clinic operations.
  • Participate in team meetings, contributing to discussions on patient care plans and clinic improvements.
  • Provide support to colleagues as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a cooperative spirit.
  • Multitasking and Time Management:
  • Efficiently balance clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring all responsibilities are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, adapting to changing situations in a dynamic clinic environment.
  • Maintain organized workspaces and systems to streamline workflow and enhance productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) designation is advantageous. Preferred
  • Experience: Previous experience in an occupational health or workers' compensation setting is beneficial.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in clinical procedures and medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications.

This role is integral to the effective functioning of a clinic dedicated to treating work-related injuries, ensuring that patients receive timely and compassionate care while maintaining seamless clinic operations.
