Intown Cares is seeking applicants for its full-time Program Manager, Homeless Services, (PATH Team). Intown is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to prevent and reverse homelessness and hunger in Intown Atlanta. Founded in 2010, Intown has grown tremendously, more than doubling in size over the past five years. Intown’s homeless services are guided by a Housing First and Harm Reduction philosophy. Our team is one of the largest and most effective in the City of Atlanta and has housed over 1,200 people experiencing unsheltered homelessness since 2017. The Program Manager will join an experienced, successful, and energetic team while serving with wisdom and compassion.
What You’ll Do
The Program Manager directly supervises two Case Managers on the PATH team to collaboratively identify encampments and neighborhoods where unhoused neighbors are living and who may need connection to services. The Program Manager oversees the team’s efforts to connect chronically homeless individuals with severe mental health to long term resources.
Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) is funded through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). The PATH team conducts street outreach and provides case management and connections to resources for individuals currently experiencing homelessness with behavioral health needs.
The Program Manager will:
- Directly supervise the PATH team, currently composed of two Case Managers
- Oversee and provide support in the day-to-day operations of the PATH program
- Work closely with Intown leadership to ensure an effective delivery of service to clients by the PATH team
- Develop collaborative relationships with PATH stakeholders (e.g., DBHDD) and other agencies to advocate for an effective, coordinated approach to serving our clients
- Ensure program compliance with grant requirements, including accurate documentation, reporting, and adherence to contract obligations
- Work collaboratively with our Licensed Clinical Social Worker to address clients' mental health needs and connect them with appropriate support services
- Review caseloads with Case Managers to ensure clients are enrolled in ClientTrack (HMIS), progressing to document ready, and, when appropriate, placed on the Atlanta Continuum of Care (CoC) Housing Queue
- Complete regular operational reports in an effective and timely manner
- Build trust with individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Atlanta
- Conduct assessments to understand client needs and barriers to housing, including substance use and mental health concerns
- Collaborate with each client to develop and implement individualized plans based on the clients’ goals to support clients on their path to housing, which may include referrals for disability applications, employment opportunities, and emergency shelters (as requested by clients)
- Provide case management services, including transporting clients and walking alongside them to obtain birth certificates, identification documents, TB tests, income verifications, and mental health services
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices.
Qualifications
- A passion for connecting with people experiencing unsheltered and chronic homelessness
- Master’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred or equivalent relevant work experience
- 3-5 years working in homeless services, with increasing responsibilities, including staff management
- Experience working in the mental health and/or substance abuse fields is a plus
- Demonstrated success as a supervisor
- Ability to work with team members from many backgrounds
- Strong ability to communicate effectively across multiple parties, including clients, Case Managers, colleagues, Intown management, and external agencies
- Grant management experience
- Certified Peer Specialists and individuals with lived experiences of homelessness, substance use, and/or mental illness are strongly encouraged to apply
- Proficiency with Client Track or another HMIS
- Valid state driver's license required
Position Status
The Program Manager, Homeless Services is a full-time (40 hours per week), salaried position that reports to the Director of Homeless Services.
Work Hours and Location
This position is based in Atlanta. Most hours will be during normal business hours (between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) but will also include some evening and early morning hours. There is some flexibility in start- and end- time and possible administrative work-from-home days.
Travel
This position will require driving. The Program Manager must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Intown will reimburse mileage at the federal mileage rate.
Compensation and Benefits
The Program Manager is a salaried position with an annual base salary range of $60,000-$66,000, which will be paid in equal installments every two weeks according to Intown’s regularly scheduled paydays. Benefits include healthcare, dental, and vision insurance—with employer contributions—as well as healthcare and dependent care FSAs, professional development resources, and generous personal and vacation days off.
This position is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay for any additional hours worked. The position is eligible for all employee benefits, mileage reimbursement in accordance with the applicable IRS mileage rate at the time expenses are incurred for pre-approved business travel, and a portion of personal mobile phone bill.
