About the Team The Search Team: The Search Team is responsible for all aspects of "Unstructured Content Retrieval": Providing a highly scalable Content extraction infrastructure for a variety of Content Sources in a variety of formats including multilingual support for OCR RESTful Retrieval API for the Unstructured Content from the various Content Sources An application and schema agnostic, linguistic, REST-like, Search and Retrieval API, providing Secure Content access supporting filtering, faceting with custom boosting Complete Ownership of the Search platform from the Design, Architecture through Deployment and Operation of the infrastructure. The Search Platform hosts 15 TB of Secure Searchable Content in 9 languages (more coming), serving over 300 million large entities in 3 different geographies with more to come. The Search Infrastructure itself is heavily a Java Ecosystem with tooling and test infrastructure in Python and NodeJS. We take pride in using the best language for the task underhand. What we are looking for A highly motivated backend-data engineer, in a cross-functional Scrum team, cruising through both business and technical requirements, with an ability not just design/implement but to see it all the way through to deployment in production. Work closely with software architects and define/modify the architecture, challenging the decisions and collaborating with the team to provide robust solutions. Constantly seek to propose improvements to technique, tools, and process whenever possible Take co-ownership of your Definition of Done with your Development Team member peers and be uncompromising on quantifiable code quality. Mentor your more junior counterparts—a big part of your success is making others around you better. Get to know your customer and empathize with their pain points so that when you solve their problems you share in the satisfaction. What you will bring with you: 6 - 8 years developing Enterprise Applications as highly scalable, performant, microservices, using a high-level Object-oriented language but not limited to Java, C#, Kotlin. Preferably a polyglot developer who is willing to work in a Java Heavy Environment Demonstrated ability to develop distributed and concurrent systems (multithreading, asynchronous programming models, event-driven programming environments) Deep understanding of RESTful services including the intent behind the HTTP Verbs, Hypermedia, with an ability to model, design and develop new/extend existing RESTful Services Sleeves-up experience in testing your own code (or better yet, test-driven development methods) especially using automation frameworks Demonstrated ability to create efficient data models for different flavors of data-stores NoSQL and SQL.
