Intrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Our 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. We are an open-enrollment school, which means that our scholars do not have to take an entrance test or pay tuition to enroll.

The Assistant Principal of Student Life is responsible for managing and running all aspects of student life. They are part of a leadership team that manages Academics, Operations, College, and Student Life. As the Assistant Principal of Student Life they oversee everything from Community Groups, celebrations, testing culture, student behavior/consequences, and all things student life.
\n- Lead the development and execution of a consistent, achievement-oriented, and joyful school culture through structured systems, policies, and expectations.
- Promote a culture of growth, equity, and community engagement for students and families.
- Partner with teachers and leaders to cultivate a disciplined, supportive school environment aligned with the school’s mission.
- Coach and support staff in building strong classroom management and maintaining high, consistent behavioral expectations.
- Serve as a school-wide resource for student discipline, classroom relationships, and culture-building strategies.
- Oversee restorative discipline practices that reflect the school’s educational philosophy and prioritize student learning and accountability.
- Provide real-time coaching and direct support to students navigating behavioral challenges, using trauma-informed mediation, de-escalation, and restorative practices.
- Design, track, and adjust individualized behavior intervention plans in collaboration with staff and families.
- Respond to behavioral incidents with professionalism, employing trauma-sensitive crisis intervention strategies.
- Facilitate restorative conversations and conflict resolution to promote student growth and relationship repair.
- Lead weekly culture and counseling team meetings to review student data, align supports, and drive strategy.
- Organize school-wide culture initiatives, including community groups, incentive programs, and identity-affirming celebrations.
- Oversee structured routines such as arrival, transitions, lunch, and dismissal to promote a safe and consistent environment.
- Support after-school programs, student recruitment, and family engagement events.
- Supervise and coach Deans of Students to ensure effective execution of behavior systems and student culture practices.
- Manage the Student Life department, including leading people and programs aligned to school-wide goals.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings to track progress, set priorities, and review data-informed next steps.
- Develop leadership skills in team members using the leader competencies framework.
- Set individual development plans and provide differentiated coaching to support staff growth and performance.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families to better understand and meet their needs.
- Lead family meetings and foster partnerships between families and the school.
- Oversee department budgeting to align resources with strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and use data to assess and improve the effectiveness of student support and culture initiatives.
- Advocate for Student Life department needs in school-wide planning and decision-making.
- Implement clear and aligned communication strategies within the department and across the school.
- Collaborate with academic and operations leaders to ensure cohesion across departments.

Compensation
We offer a generous compensation package, including full health benefits. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. Compensation is highly competitive; teachers are eligible to participate in the MNPS Retirement System.
Base salaries are determined by the ICP salary scale. Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color. Placement on the salary scale is solely determined by relevant experience.
