Intrepid Financial Partners (“Intrepid” or the “Firm”) is an energy-focused merchant bank with approximately 50 employees and offices in Houston and New York City. Founded in 2015, the Firm has advised on over $250 billion of strategic M&A and capital raising transactions, and manages several private fund vehicles.
Intrepid is currently seeking an Associate-level Petroleum Engineer to support its investment banking and investment management businesses. This role will be actively involved in mergers, acquisitions, divestments and capital markets activities for the exploration and production, and midstream transportation and processing industries.
Job Responsibilities:
- Individual will be working on upstream & midstream transactions across North America.
- Independently execute engineering workflows with minimal supervision, delivering results in a timely and efficient manner
- Perform economic modeling, including production forecasting, type curve creation, inventory assessment, LOS analysis, and the review of commercial assumptions in financial model
- Design, construct, and maintain sophisticated economic models using ARIES or PHDwin to support project evaluations
- Analyze a variety of industry trends, including completion trends, rig activity, depletion risks, and DCA, to provide actionable insights for asset valuation
- Assist and guide the development of key marketing materials and execution of mandates and design, prepare and administer data room presentations and exhibit the ability to manage virtual data rooms
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience, with (preferred) at least 1 year of experience in A&D
- Proven expertise in the technical analysis and valuation of oil & gas assets, with a focus on unconventional play types across North America
- In-depth experience with reserve economic modeling programs, particularly ARIES and PHDwin
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to prepare, manage, and present materials in a professional setting
