Intrepid Powerboats manufacturers high quality semi-custom boats from 24’ – 51’. We are a 30 year stable company with extensive demand for boats within our iconic brand. We are looking for a 3D Modeler to join our TEAM at the main production facility located in Largo, Florida. What You’ll Do:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative 3D Modeler specializing in engineering yacht design to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D modeling and the technical skills to bring complex engineering concepts to life. This role involves creating detailed 3D models of our semi-custom boats, collaborating with engineers and designers, and ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and aesthetic appeal. The 3D Modeler must have the ability to take conceptual designs and sketches and develop them into production ready 3D models for 5 axis milling.
Responsibilities:
1) 3D Modeling and Design:
· Create Detailed 3D Rhino models of Composite parts, components, and mechanical assemblies of the boat.
· Create “mill ready” 3D models of composite parts to be milled on 5 axis routers.
· Create production and assembly drawings.
· Assure that we hit production deadlines by managing timelines with externals.
· Follow parts from conceptual design through production, guiding production craftsman in the prototyping or build process.
2) Collaboration:
· Work closely with engineering team to understand project requirements and objectives.
· Collaborate with production team to ensure models are feasible for fabrication and assembly.
· Participate in design review meetings and provide technical insights and suggestions.
3) Documentation and Analysis:
· Prepare technical drawings and documentation to support 3D models, including assembly instructions and part lists.
· Conduct simulations and analyses to test the performance and durability of designs.
· Assist in the creation of animations and visualizations for presentations and project proposals.
4) Software Proficiency:
· Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modeling and design tasks.
· Stay updated with the latest software advancements and industry trends to enhance modeling techniques.
5) Quality Assurance:
· Ensure all models are accurate and free of errors before release.
· Conduct regular reviews and updates of models to incorporate any design changes or improvements.
· Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure precision and reliability of models.
Experience:
· Must have Solidworks experience.
· Experienced using Rhino 3D to develop composite parts.
· 5 years 3D modeling experience.
· Experience with 3D Scanning and reverse engineering a plus.
