Senior Systems Designer

Intrepid Studios is looking for a passionate and talented Senior Systems Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of groundbreaking social systems for Ashes of Creation, our upcoming MMORPG. As a Senior Systems Designer, you will own the design and implementation of social features that encourage player interaction, community building, and a vibrant social ecosystem within the world of Verra. You have extensive experience designing and implementing complex systems in online games, and you're passionate about creating engaging and immersive social experiences for players. You will be a key member of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, working closely with designers, programmers, and artists. You will mentor and guide associate designers. A passion for MMORPGs is an absolute must!

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and iteration of social systems that encourage meaningful player interactions and foster a thriving online community.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of social systems with other core gameplay mechanics.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of player behavior and social trends in MMORPGs to inform design decisions.
• Proactively identify and address potential issues and imbalances within the social systems to ensure a positive player experience.
• Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation to guide development and facilitate communication across teams.
• Mentor and provide guidance to associate designers, fostering their growth and development in social systems design.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in social systems design within the MMORPG genre.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in game development with a focus on systems design, preferably in MMORPGs or similar online games with complex social structures.
• Deep understanding of social dynamics in online games and the ability to create systems that foster positive and engaging player interactions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Passion for MMORPGs and a strong understanding of the genre's social challenges and opportunities.

Desired Expertise:

• Experience designing and implementing guild systems, social hubs, and in-game events that foster community.
• Familiarity with emergent gameplay and its impact on social dynamics in online games.
• Experience with large-scale online game development and the challenges of managing social interactions in a massive player base.

The Legal Bits:

We offer competitive pay based on market standards plus a significant annual bonus structure. The base salary for this role is between $85,000 - $136,000, depending on skills and experience. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall throughout the range based on these factors.

Salary : $85,000 - $136,000
