SUMMARY
Under the guidance of production and sales, this position requires the ability to oversee and direct construction of boats hulls, decks and parts use in final production using talent and skills within department. Strong knowledge of the infusion process, hand layup, and RTM is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to the following:
Job Duties:
- Strong knowledge of the infusion process, hand layup, and RTM is essential.
- Oversee the lamination of composite materials, ensuring that processes are followed according to specifications and quality standards.
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Provides direction, development, and leadership to supervisors in department. Identifies and mentors potential lead employees.
- Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries. Provide technical advice and knowledge to others within the manufacturing process.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensures daily and regular cleaning
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for accurately completing job cards
- Follows up on shop orders
- Responsible for controlling overtime
- Attend all required meetings
- Meets with direct reports on a regular basis and discusses ongoing issues
- Performs new hire training including safety procedures
- Safety walk through department each morning
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· A strong operational focus along with good judgment
· Has the ability to relate to all people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
· Willing to share information and serve as a mentor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Five to ten years of direct related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years at manager level.
- Knowledge of Resins, catalyst, adhesives, solvents and other required chemicals.
- Knowledge of composites materials such as; fiberglass styles and core materials
- Knowledge of fabrication machinery and best practices techniques
- High school diploma or GED, prefer a 2-yr vocational certificate or degree
- Use of Microsoft Office and related software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
