We are looking for a Laboratory Support Technician / Facility Manager to join our team to support the Air Force Research Laboratory RDH in Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
The Laboratory Support Technician / Facility Manager will perform facility management for an Air Force Research Laboratory facility. Duties include maintenance of the facility and coordinating and escorting KAFB personnel. Grounds and general housekeeping of the offices, laboratories, and highbays. Manage multiple equipment and Information Technology Equipment accounts. Manage and control the Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK) program as well as the Test, Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment program (TMDE). Support laboratory work and field work to include working with the Scientists and Engineers as needs arise. Perform logistical support for AFRL programs on and off base. Manage Electrostatic discharge (ESD) and safety programs for the facility.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Provide directed experimental support for conducting basic and applied research in High Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) technology and systems
- Provide design support for experimental, breadboard, and brass board HPEM hardware Fabricate ancillary support equipment for laboratory
- Perform operational tests on HPEM systems and test equipment -This includes but is not limited to assisting in test site design, test site configuration (setup and teardown activities, test support, and operations. (Anticipate working in the field (at Kirtland and off-site) 25% of the time).
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate laboratory measurement equipment
- Maintain operational readiness of the laboratory and its inherent laboratory-based sources and their ancillary equipment
- Perform regular and emergency maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Operate, maintain, and restore laboratory equipment in support of research activities
- Identify and procure test articles, spare parts, consumables, diagnostic equipment, and data acquisition systems
- Perform activities to meet applicable USAF compliance requirements for safe laboratory operation
- As Facility Manager, perform required alterations of laboratory facilities necessary to maintain and/or modernize its operation by coordinating with Base Civil Engineer and AFRL/RVOI Personnel -To include all Facility Manager duties described in the Base Facility Manager’s handbook.
- Assemble new clean rooms, target, and test chambers
- Install safety and operational interlocks and computer controls
- Maintain laboratories in a safe/clean manner
- Keep up to date with regulations to understand government compliance requirements
- Support the Government with inspections from Bioenvironmental, AFRL QA, and DET 3/SE on all government-run inspections
- Maintain eyewash stations
- Conduct inspections as required by AFRL using government checklists
- Maintain Composite Tool Kits (CTKs) & tool control
- Manage Logistics Support stock inventories and plans and Component Stock locations Implement long-term storage (LTS) according to new AFRL requirements
- Maintain AFTO 244s - Industrial/Support Equipment Record
- As Equipment Sub-Custodian, manage CA/CRL equipment lists and conduct annual Equipment inventories
- As ITE Sub-Custodian, manage ITE accounts
- TMDE Monitor managing PMEL schedule, delivery, and pickup
- Manage TMDE program per applicable instruction (T.O. 00-20-14)
- Participate in the planning of the physical layout of facilities
- Develop and coordinate Purchase Requests through the appropriate procurement process
- Qualify and Operate forklifts up to 40k
- As Vehicle Control Officer, manage assigned program vehicles
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Monitor
- Operate and manage facility cranes, hoists, and slings.
At a minimum you should have:
- Active SECRET clearance
- 5-10 years relevant experience
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and be a team player

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
