Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team in providing exceptional care within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices, particularly in the context of nursing homes and home care settings. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, including Medicare and HIPAA, while fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered consistently.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations to promote professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Medicare standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage medical records and documentation processes to maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
- Conduct assessments and develop care plans based on MDS (Minimum Data Set) guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
- Provide training and education to nursing staff on best practices in patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor patient health outcomes and implement strategies for improvement as necessary.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations and compliance standards.
- Proven experience in supervising nursing staff within a healthcare setting.
- In-depth understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Solid foundation in physiology knowledge relevant to patient care.
- Experience with MDS assessments and documentation processes.
- Ability to effectively manage medical records while ensuring accuracy and security.
- Familiarity with nursing home operations as well as home care services is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
