About The Role
In June 2009, NASA launched the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), a robotic spacecraft now orbiting the Moon at 100-km altitude. The LRO primary objective is enable fundamental scientific discoveries about the Moon. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) is one of seven instruments onboard LRO. LROC comprises three cameras that capture high-resolution black-and-white images and moderate-resolution multispectral images of the lunar surface.
In January of 2023, ShadowCam, a NASA-funded instrument hosted onboard the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO, began orbital operations. By collecting high-resolution images of permanently shadowed regions (PSRs), ShadowCam provides critical information about the distribution and accessibility of water, ice, and other volatiles at spatial scales (1.7 m/pixel) required to mitigate risks and maximize the results of future exploration activities.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Junior IT Administrator to join our LROC and ShadowCam teams in Phoenix AZ to support these ground-breaking projects.

Responsibilities
- Deskside support
- Workstation setup and maintenance
- Printer setup & resupply
- Help organize IT storage
- Help staff with various software and scripting needs
- Work with senior admin staff to learn how to maintain a large network infrastructure including petabyte-scale storage, high performance computing, fault-tolerant services, and more.
- Associates degree in Information Technology or related field plus 1 year systems administration, helpdesk, or desk-side support experience, OR any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience with MacOS in a workstation environment
- Experience with Windows in a workstation environment
- Experience with Linux in a workstation or server environment
- Experience with shell scripting
- Experience troubleshooting a variety of applications
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with the puppet configuration management system
