About The Position
Intuitive Machines is seeking a Structural Test Engineer to join our team. This position will support the vehicle Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) team. The candidate will work in a cross-functional team on the integration, assembly, and test at the subassembly level and at the vehicle level for our Lunar Lander, Lunar Terrain Vehicle, and more. The candidate will be able to function with oversight on the structural test schedule, and development of test design and test GSE creation. The candidate should understand concepts in ASME Y14.5., and be able to perform stack up analyses on assemblies. Additionally, the candidate should understand database structure (PDM/Windchill) and function within that environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop written assembly and test procedures
- Setup and perform tests of various components of space flight vehicles
- Support integrated testing, such as load testing, vibration testing, thermal testing, actuator testing, and document and submit final test results
- Develop designs and solutions to integration and testing
- Develop GSE for structural testing
- Manage overall structural test program, develop schedule, meet schedule requirements, and ensure testing is completed in an efficient manner
- Work as a part of a team to meet structural test objectives, and meet assembly level objectives.
General Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields
- 5-7 years of experience in structural testing, hands-on experience preferred
- Expert use with assembly tools, such as torque wrenches, calipers, etc.
- Familiarity with commonly used spaceflight and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, connectors, wiring, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5, understanding of 1st principles
- Familiar with structural test equipment, and software, common hand test hardware such as load cells, actuators, and other standard test equipment
- Familiarity with standard practices for assembly and environmental testing of hardware as well as the tooling and ground support equipment associated with these tests
- Previous experience preferred within aerospace, defense, or aviation industries
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Creative approach to problem solving
