Primary Function of Position:

The Ion™ endoluminal system is Intuitive's new robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. In this role, you will work as part of the Ion design engineering team to build, test and maintain prototypes of robotic systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-energy, focused, small-team environment and be comfortable working with minimal supervision, and with minimal work instructions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for early builds of engineering prototypes, including coordinating materials and developing build processes and fixtures required to complete builds.
• Perform electronic and mechanical reworks on the spot.
• EE: building cable harnesses, PCA reworks, basic solder knowledge, etc.
• ME: Mechanical assemblies, tap threads, clean optics, adjust alignments, etc.
• Diagnose failures on Engineering Systems, repair and upgrade engineering prototypes and lab systems (System level failures, Sub-assembly failures, Test fixture failures).
• Execute engineering-level tests and collect data to support the design of experiment activities or characterize a device.
• Independently prioritizes activities across multiple projects, coordinating with team members on requirements and deadlines for each task.

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with assembly and troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems)
• Independently prioritizes activities across multiple projects, coordinating with team members on requirements and deadlines for each task.
• Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to excel in a high-energy, small, focused team environment.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate well with design and manufacturing engineers.

Required Education and Training

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Working Conditions

• Moving or lifting equipment/product up to 30 lbs. occasionally required

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Ability to perform mechanical fabrication using machine and hand tools
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing techniques and best practices. Demonstrated ability to build high-quality prototypes without detailed process instructions.
