Key Responsibilities:
- Lead new casting product launches from feasibility through full validation and commercial production.
- Design and optimize wax pattern tooling and mold designs for efficient casting processes.
- Interpret technical drawings (ASME Y14.5M – GD&T) and CMM reports for process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct and support PFMEA, DFMEA, risk assessments, and control plan development.
- Oversee and execute equipment validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Utilize solid modeling and simulation software (NX/Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Pro-E, FEA, Mold Flow, CFM) to improve casting efficiency.
- Manage continuous improvement projects related to investment casting, CNC machining, and injection molding.
- Apply statistical analysis (Minitab, Gage R&R, TMV) for process validation and quality control.
- Work with ceramic cores in the investment casting process to optimize production outcomes.
- Support automation initiatives, including 6-axis robotic operation and programming.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related field).
- 3 years of experience as an Investment Casting Engineer.
- Experience working in a regulated environment (Medical Devices, Aerospace, or Automotive).
- Proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5M) and interpretation of technical drawings and CMM reports.
- Hands-on experience with wax pattern tooling/mold design.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Minitab.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a strong ability to collaborate in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, risk assessments, and control plans.
- Knowledge of equipment validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) and Gage R&R studies.
- Exposure to Sand Casting, Die Casting, or Foam Casting.
- Familiarity with Wax or Plastic Injection Molding and CNC machining of castings.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (NX/Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Pro-E) and simulation software (FEA, Mold Flow, CFM).
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (Green/Black Belt preferred).
- Experience with additive manufacturing (3D Printing) and ceramic cores in investment casting.
- Hands-on experience with 6-axis robotic operation or programming.
