VENTURE SECTOR LEAD (16 Month Term)
INVEST OTTAWA VENTURE DEVELOPMENT
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Early-Stage Programs, the Venture Sector Lead will be responsible for designing and deploying a suite of sector-specific programs, resources, and events to support companies across the IO Venture Path.
* 10 days per month required in the office at Bayview Yards and Area X.O
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Design and implement a comprehensive suite of programs, events, and resources tailored to support startups in Invest Ottawas priority sectors, including but not limited to cleantech, smart mobility, cyber, health tech and life sciences industries.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline for early-stage programs that attract new companies to the IO Venture Path.
- Manage the operations and execution of sector-specific programs and initiatives, which includes defining client needs, analyzing feedback, and conducting targeted research.
- Work collaboratively with internal IO teams to ensure alignment and deliver coordinated initiatives across departments.
- Lead and coordinate programming events and workshops, managing all aspects from speaker engagement to logistical arrangements such as communications, RSVPs, and catering and technical requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of sector-specific initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key advisors and industry partners in targeted sectors.
- Assist with various reporting requirements and metrics collection.
- Proactively identify and implement workflow efficiencies to enhance the client journey and overall experience.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Early-Stage Programs.
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
- Post-secondary education in business or a related field, complemented by 3-5 years of experience in a business environment.
- Proven track record in designing and deploying programs and services for technology startups or SMEs.
- Skilled in fostering cross-functional team collaboration to achieve goals.
- Strong at building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Highly organized and adept at prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment with sharp attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong drive to take initiative and achieve results.
