Job Function –
Performs collections services on assigned delinquent accounts. Maintains accountability for compliance with all laws, regulations and policies governing the industry.
Job Responsibilities –
Maintains acceptable delinquency levels of the existing portfolio.
Monitors, reviews, and reports performance and delinquency trends.
Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations and policies and procedures relative to collections.
Demonstrates and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and ensures on-going compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
Ensures that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external customers.
Plans and organizes daily activities to provide the best possible service to customers while protecting the assets of the organization.
Responsible for other administrative duties such as auto inventory, tracking and moving inventory to auctions, assisting customer requests for information, backend cancellations, working with insurance companies, and monitoring bankruptcy accounts.
Works with outsource agents for recoveries.
Enters and tracks phone payments and confirmation letters.
Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Experience –
- 3 years collections experience in a financial institution preferred.
- Similar experience in another industry will be considered.
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
Skills and Abilities –
- Good oral, written, and human relations skills required
- Good attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and deal tactfully with customers required.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel) required.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements –
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
- Ability to read and interpret a document.
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.
