Foundations Alaska is seeking caring, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide daily support, guidance, and encouragement to adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities in a small, structured residential setting. This is a unique opportunity to help individuals build independence, develop life skills, and thrive in a supportive, faith-informed environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, personal plan reminders, and organizing schedules.
- Provide encouragement and accountability to help clients stay on track with personal goals.
- Support community integration by accompanying residents to work, appointments, shopping, and recreational outings.
- Facilitate or assist with on-site activities and enrichment, including life skills classes, group engagement, and spiritual growth opportunities.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and structured environment consistent with Foundations Alaska’s values and expectations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident activities, progress, incidents, and communication.
- Collaborate with other team members and families to support each resident’s individual plan.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required—training provided.
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about helping others grow.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Able to pass a background check and complete all required training.
- Comfortable working in a Christian values-based environment.
