Job Description:
Invested in Neighborhoods is a dynamic movement committed to transforming families and communities. We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Youth Engagement Specialist. In this role, you will support our in-school and after-school programs by engaging middle and high school youth fostering youth leadership, personal development, and positive social engagement.
Position Details:
Job Type: Non-benefited position
Compensation: $21.20 per hour
Work Hours: 12-15 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, with occasional flexibility for other programming needs
Reporting: Reports to the Executive Director
Primary Duties:
- Provide on-site leadership for teen programs catering to youth in grades 6-12.
- Establish partnerships with schools, community groups, and local organizations to expand outreach and impact.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising program activities.
- Actively facilitate and monitor program sessions while they are in progress.
- Lead, mentor, and actively engage youth participants during programs.
- Help manage and coordinate volunteers.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and training programs as required.
- Maintain accurate records, including site attendance, receipts, incidents, and accidents.
- Develop meaningful role model relationships with youth participants.
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaboratively interact with program participants, community members, fellow staff, and service providers
- Skills and experience in planning and implementing recreational activities for youth
- Knowledge of youth development theories and best practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively
- Previous experience working with culturally and racially diverse youth and their families, especially those from low-income backgrounds
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and products, including typing skills
- Successful completion of a Washington State Patrol background check
- Must obtain CPR and first aid certification within 90 days of hire.
- Possession of a valid WA State driver's license and successful completion of an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check to enable transportation for participants in agency vans.
Schedule and Location:
Work Schedule: Monday to Wednesday, with occasional availability for night shifts and weekends.
Work Location: In-person, based in Renton, WA 98056.
