The Senior Vice President (SVP) - Wholesale will lead the Wholesale Operations function, ensuring efficient, compliant, and scalable execution of our wholesale origination processes. This role will work closely with Sales, Credit, and Compliance to evaluate and improve the end-to-end Wholesale process, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. As Verus expands its Wholesale channel, the SVP will be responsible for strategically building out additional functional areas, including a dedicated Lock Desk and other operational support teams as needed.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader in Wholesale mortgage operations, with deep expertise in process optimization, compliance, and risk management, along with a track record of scaling teams and driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities and Duties :
Leadership & Oversight
- Direct and oversee the Wholesale Operations team, led by the Wholesale Operations Manager, ensuring the team meets performance targets and maintains operational excellence.
- Strategically expand and structure Wholesale Operations as the business scales, including the addition of a Lock Desk and other operational support areas to enhance execution efficiency.
- Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and compliance measures to ensure effective, standardized execution across the Wholesale channel.
Strategic Partnership
Partner with the EVP - Sales and EVP - Credit to evaluate and report on the Wholesale channel's performance, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency improvements.Work closely with Compliance (SVP - Compliance) to implement proactive risk monitoring and compliance strategies tailored to the Wholesale channel.Collaborate with Sales, Compliance, and Technology teams to align operational strategies with broader business goals.Operational Excellence
Lead change initiatives to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and regulatory compliance.Drive the adoption of technology and AI-based tools to enhance operational workflows and increase productivity within the Wholesale Operations team.Monitor operational KPIs and SLAs to ensure high-quality execution and adherence to turnaround times.Process Improvement
Identify and implement opportunities for workflow optimization, process automation, and improved reporting to support the scalability of the Wholesale channel.Continuously improve operational functions, including disclosures, closing, post-closing, and future functional areas such as a Wholesale Lock Desk.Compliance & Risk Management
Work in partnership with SVP - Compliance to establish proactive compliance monitoring strategies and ensure all operations adhere to federal and state regulatory requirements.Maintain a deep understanding of wholesale-specific regulatory requirements, broker contractual obligations, and best practices for risk mitigation.P&L and Business Impact
Analyze cost structures within Wholesale Operations and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements without compromising compliance or service quality.Provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership on resource allocation, technology investments, and process enhancements to improve the profitability and effectiveness of the Wholesale channel.Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).10 years of experience in Wholesale mortgage operations, with expertise in process improvement, compliance, and change management.Proven ability to lead and scale operational teams, driving cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Credit, Compliance, and Technology.Deep expertise in Wholesale mortgage operations, including disclosures, underwriting, closing, post-closing, and broker management.Strong understanding of operational compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks applicable to the Wholesale channel.Ability to leverage technology and AI-based solutions to drive operational efficiency.Experience with financial and P&L analysis to improve operational cost structures and business impact.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.Highly analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a track record of executing large-scale initiatives.Comfortable with hybrid or remote work setups, with a reliable high-speed internet connection required.Benefits
