Product Development Engineer

Job Summary:

As a Product Development Engineer for Invincible Boats, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and integrating high-quality fishing boats. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, and manufacturing to integrate existing product into a new international facility and to bring new products from concept to market. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering products that meet and exceed customer expectations.

Location: This position is in Opa-locka, Florida with expected travel of up to 50% in Merida, Mexico.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Lead the initiative to capture portions of the current build process for implementation at our amazing new facility in Merida, Mexico.

·        Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition designs into production, ensuring manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

·        Generate, review, and approve engineering change notices (ECNs) as required

·        Lead the conceptualization and design of new fishing boat models based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitive analysis.

·        Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create detailed product specifications, 3D models, and engineering drawings.

·        Work closely with prototype shops, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to refine designs and address any technical challenges.

·        Identify opportunities for weight reduction, material selection improvements, and cost savings without compromising product quality.

·        Provide support during the production ramp-up phase, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.

·        Establish quality standards and specifications to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer expectations.

·        Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

·        Ensure compliance with all necessary industry, domestic, and international government regulations

Education and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.

·        Proven experience in product development within the marine industry, preferably in fishing boat design.

·        Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).

·        Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications

·        Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in boat construction.

·        Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges.

·        Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.

·        Passion for boating and fishing, with a keen interest in staying abreast of industry trends and innovations.

·        Bilingual in Spanish and English is a major bonus.
