Position Overview: The Lead Electrical and Generator Technician will oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and generators for residential and commercial properties. This role requires a highly skilled professional who is comfortable leading a team, managing projects, and providing technical expertise to ensure all work is performed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and backup generators (residential and commercial).
- Supervise and guide a team of electrical and generator technicians, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on electrical systems, generators, and related components.
- Ensure adherence to the established maintenance schedule for generator systems, overseeing its proper execution to guarantee optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes, safety standards, and local regulations.
- Review project blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and precision in installations and repairs.
- Conduct on-site inspections and evaluations of electrical systems and generators to assess the needs of the client and provide expert recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients to communicate project timelines, costs, and expected outcomes.
- Ensure all team members are adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and parts, ensuring availability for scheduled jobs.
- Provide on-call support for emergency generator repairs and electrical services as needed.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians and ensure continued professional development within the team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required). A degree or certification in electrical engineering or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical and generator installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and mentor a team of technicians.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, electrical systems, and generator installation and repair processes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in the use of electrical and generator testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients and team members.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Certifications in electrical work (e.g., Master Electrician, Journeyman) and generator systems (e.g., Generac, Kohler, Cummins) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various conditions (indoor, outdoor, and in confined spaces).
- Comfort with climbing ladders, working on roofs, and performing installations in various weather conditions.
- Availability to work on-call for emergency service requests, including evenings and weekends as needed.
