Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate. Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Inspire and lead the team, encourage engagement, and create an environment that fosters associate development through performance management, career development, training, and mentoring.
- Provide tactical and strategic direction to the corporate accounting, fund accounting, treasury and cash management, and SEC teams.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements as well as debt, joint venture, asset management, property management, and other agreements.
- Establish and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other corporate departments, field representatives, joint venture partners, third-party management clients, banks, internal and external auditors, and attorneys.
- Implement technology tools and process improvements for efficiency, scalability, and productivity.
- Ensure accounting and reporting deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner, including the obligations pursuant to third-party property and asset management contracts, joint venture agreements, and debt arrangements.
- Review and approve SEC filings in coordination with internal Legal team.
- Review and oversee of all technical accounting matters, including completion of annual audits and quarterly reviews, research and documentation regarding technical accounting matters, and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Direct and manage the treasury and cash management teams to safeguard assets, comply with lender and other owner requirements, and manage short- and long-term liquidity by forecasting cash needs on a recurring basis.
- Manage processes and accounting in a complex, multi-entity organizational structure.
- Advanced degree in Accounting.
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an accounting/finance leadership role with a strong understanding of business metrics; public company and/or Big 4 accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Proven experience building and leading accounting teams.
- Strong ethics and integrity.
- In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit, tax compliance, SEC reporting, and other regulatory matters.
- Experience in design and implementation of major finance, accounting, and control systems; Yardi experience is a plus.
- Real estate industry experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all level of the organization.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple projects and activities.
- Ability to extract, manipulate, and analyze data to provide actionable insights that support accounting and operational functions.
- Flexible and adaptable to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make decisions and drive results.
- Intellectual horsepower to analyze issues, propose appropriate alternatives, and solve problems.
- A focus on continuous improvement.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to facilitate presentations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity software.
