Computational Biologist - Human Genomics

ICR is hiring a Computational Biologist specializing in human genomics. This opportunity focuses on human health and disease genomics research. We're exploring ways to improve personalized genome interpretation and reporting to help people make better personal healthcare decisions. One of the unique aspects of this role: it will take point in our mission to understand the genome of a single person better than any other group and apply this knowledge to advance personalized genomics more broadly. Aspects of rare and hard-to-diagnose diseases are also a focus of this position. If you enjoy solving medical mysteries then this job as a "genomic detective" may be for you.

Please note: this is an on-site, not remote position.

At ICR, you'll get to:

• Compose personalized genomics reports resulting from extensive research on specific genetic conditions or polygenic diseases
• Analyze and synthesize multiple genomic data sets to improve variant calling, CNV and structural variation analyses, mitochondrial DNA variation, and family-based analysis (transmission, de novo variants)
• Conduct in-depth analyses of genomic datasets to discover potential disease-associated traits
• Manage outsourced genomics bioinformatics work to coordinate and accelerate ICR research programs
• Collaborate with other ICR scientists in translational genomics projects

Please apply if you have:

• A PhD or another advanced degree in Human Genomics or Computational Biology, or 5-plus years of experience working on human genomics and disease
• Experience in variant calling and functional impact interpretation
• Experience in computational, statistical and comparative genomics
• Fluency in Python, R and Linux

Ideally, you'll also have:

• Expertise in biostatistics and Bayesian statistics
• A deep understanding of evolutionary biology and population biology

And you'll need:

• The ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
• To have an easygoing, hard-working personality

Position title and compensation are commensurate with experience.

The compensation ranges listed below are starting ranges.

Starting base pay range: $155,000/yr - $225,000/yr

Starting additional compensation range: $15,000/yr - $40,000/yr
