We’re seeking a talented, full-time Sign Language Interpreter to join our school-based services team in Rockford, IL.
What to expect from this role:
- Provide assistance to deaf/hard of hearing students by transmitting spoken messages and environmental cues via the visual-gestural modality using the language or code that best meets the needs of the receiver (deaf/hard of hearing student, parent, etc.) under the supervision of a certified teacher.
- Transmits signed messages into spoken English
- Participate in instructional planning and student evaluation
- Participate in an Individual Education Plan (IEP) Meeting as a Team member when deemed necessary
- Maintain appropriate records
- Ability to effectively communicate with teachers, administrators, and parents
- Ensure all services are performed in accordance with state laws and regulations
- Perform other SLI duties/responsibilities required by the Program and within the scope of licensure and/or certification
Professional License Requirements:
Applicants are required to have the following, legally mandated certifications. Applicants without these requirements will not be considered.
- State licensure or ability to obtain required licensure
- Must have ISBE Approval or IDHHC
- No PEL needed
